This ol' Town: Sunset on the Riverfront

Our little town is so cute sometimes.  Washington does this fun thing called "Sunset on the Riverfront" every 4th Thursday of the month, April through October.  They have music, food, and drinks at the park right along the Missouri River. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's crowded, sometimes they run out of food. And sometimes it's perfect.

June's event was kind of hot and a little cloudy. But not bad.

I'm such an awesome photographer.

Last week Scott and I went to July's event. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous around here lately! Weather in the 80s, no humidity. That's a Missouri miracle! Sunset on the Riverfront is just such a fun thing to look forward to every month. So pretty.

This ol' Town: St. Francis Borgia

I love old churches. If I was a legit photographer, I would travel the country-side looking for old churches to take pictures of all day long. When I first got my nice camera, I went around town and snapped some pictures. I took these of the local Catholic church, St. Francis Borgia, back in February 2011. The sunset was gorgeous. And so is this church which was built in 1834. It's definitely a focal point in this town. It's built up off the road and you can see it for miles around, even from the town across the river.  As I've mentioned before,  I suck at editing, so all of these are "raw" photos.

 

 

This ol' Town: Bier Deck

I had a pretty fun filled day yesterday. After an eye doctor appointment, I explored the adorable town of Webster Groves and then went to an art fair with a friend and her boyfriend. But more on that later!

Scott and I wanted to take full advantage of the beautiful evening last night so we went to the local Beer Deck (or "Bier" as they spell it in this German town). Since we live in a little river town, there are several cutesy places to go eat with great views. The Bier Deck has a two-level patio overlooking the Missouri River. They even had a band last night. I tried the Crispen Cider and Scott opted for Shiner Bock. Unfortunately my phone died before I was able to take more than one picture.

Hoping to spend a few more summer nights enjoying some cooler weather outside before the humidity takes over. Oh Missouri...

This ol' Town: Blumenhof Winery

Scott and I decided to start the holiday weekend off right on Friday. A couple of his friends invited us to a nearby winery in Dutzow, MO. I'd never been to Blumenhof Winery before, but it's pretty adorable! They had live music and, because we got there at happy hour, we got $2 glasses of wine! Anyone want to come visit me? I have a picnic basket to pack goodies in and the wine is delicious!

 

 

 

This ol' Town

Sometimes I might complain about living in a small town but if I had to live in any, I'm pretty lucky to be in this one.  They have frequent festivals and events that we can stay busy with.

This weekend was the annual Arts and Winefest. Small in comparison to Artsfest in good old Springfield, MO where I went to college, but cute nonetheless. Scott and I didn't get to go until the end of it today and it was so hot that we didn't stick around for the wine tastings. But I did find some steals on watercolor print cards that I'll be sending to my penpals (more on my penpals later!). Below are some pics I snapped from today.
